Message from our President

The Tulsa Association of Health Underwriters is one of two Oklahoma chapters of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU).  Our mission is to educate the public and decision makers about the value health insurance professionals deliver in helping consumers access the healthcare system and, through education and association involvement, increase members’ ability to better serve consumers.  We will do so in a financially prudent and responsible manner.

TAHU Members agree to abide by the National Association of Health Underwriters Code of Ethics, which requires them to always make health care coverage recommendations with the customer's best interest in mind.

NAHU helps local chapters like TAHU with Federal legislative issues that impact the health care industry. NAHU is a key stakeholder at the federal level and has had a seat at the table for every step prior to and ongoing through the Affordable Care Act. NAHU is an advocate for our TAHU members and the clients they serve. Without efforts on the National level we would not have a voice for our Clients in Washington DC.

NAHU also offers its members a multitude of educational opportunities, including advanced designation programs, continuing-education classes and online learning. This allows our members to be well educated and on the cutting edge of new product offerings and requirements in the market. In addition, NAHU provides its members with professional conferences and networking functions, publications and business-development tools. We also conduct advocacy efforts at the state and federal levels of government to advance the interests of health insurance professionals and to promoting affordable and responsible private health insurance market solutions.

The Tulsa Association of Health Underwriters represents nearly 140 licensed independent health insurance agents, brokers, consultants and benefit professionals throughout Tulsa and surrounding areas. NAHU represents over 100,000 professional health insurance agents and brokers and have over 200 chapters across the country.

TAHU general membership meetings are generally held on the 3rd Thursday of the month from January through September at 11:30am.  GMM’s consist of lunch and one hour continuing education credits on various industry specific topics.  Twice a year, these meetings are full days of continuing education we call the Spring Symposium and Fall Forum.

TAHU values community involvement and one of our tenants is giving back to those in need.  For the last 3 years, we have had an annual fundraiser to support a local charity, Loaves & Fishes.

It is a privilege to lead this organization and work with peers in the industry whom I either consider mentors or up- and-coming professionals whose success I want help foster.

If you are not currently a member, I invite you to visit us or contact me to learn more about the benefits of TAHU membership.  We are the premier organization for health insurance and employee benefit professionals.

Best Regards,

Jennifer M. Brittain
